The less said the better about HDFC Top 200. Every Tom Dick and Harry talks about this fund. It’s famous simply because of its staggering performance. It’s interest among investors is evident from the huge corpus it has today – Rs 14000 crores plus.
It must be a challenging time for the fund manager to manage this huge amount of money but the fact that year on year HDFC Top 200 does not disappoint is a great achievement. I won’t write about much of it here – just go for it!

Any more funds you want to throw in readers? I personally think the above list of best large and mid cap mutual funds should satisfy one and all…
Aparna Nema says
Thanks for the info..
Of all the above funds, I assume that they are all Growth funds (not dividends), am I correct? Also, I suppose all are open ended..
Kindly correct me if I am wrong..
Radhey Sharma says
@Aparna Nema, They are yes, I will update the articles to that effect now.
Thanks for brining this to my attention.
ANIL KUMAR KAPILA says
@Radhey Sharma,
There seems to be some confusion here.Most funds have growth as well as dividend options.Depending on the style of stocks the funds with value stocks can be called value funds,funds with growth stocks can be called growth funds and funds with dividend yield stocks can be called dividend yield funds.Funds with all types of stocks can be called blended funds.

Somehow I have avoided this category of funds in my portfolio as mostly they invest in large cap and small portion into small cap. I already have DSPBR top 100 as core so avoided this category. let me know your views
Radhey Sharma says
@Venkat, Did not quite understand why you would avoid this category. This is as good as pure large cap.
Venkat says
@Radhey Sharma, What i mean is if you see portfolio of HDFC Top 200 by market cap (65% gaint,23% large) and DSPBR top 100 (57% gaint and 39% large). So not much of difference so i choose dspbr top and 100 and left out hdfc top 200. Yes you are right when you say this is good as pure large cap. So there is thin line betwen large cap and large & mid cap as second category overlaps with first by almost 85%.
Radhey Sharma says
@Venkat, Ah, got it now.
Rakesh says
Radhey,
Thanks for the post. I have Birla Sunlife & HDFC Top 200 in my portfolio. Was invested in Fidelity EQ fund too but switched to HDFC Top 200 few years ago.
Rakesh
Radhey Sharma says
@Rakesh, Why did you switch – you did not like the fund ?
Rakesh says
Radhey,
I did like the fund, it was in my portfolio for 2 years before i switched. Its performance when compared to HDFC Top 200 was not good for two quarters.

Jaswinder Singh says
@Radhey Sharma, Radhey, is 2 quarters a good enough time for deciding on moving on from a fund? Please share your thoughts.
Manickkam says
Yes. This list pretty much contain good information on good large+midcap funds.
Sudip D says
Great. Both your lists cover the best performers among Large & Large-mid cap funds.
When’s the list of best Mid-small cap funds coming?
Radhey Sharma says
@Sudip D, Give me sometime please…
Sudip D says
@Radhey Sharma, Sure.
Jaswinder Singh says
@Radhey Sharma, Yeah, this is the first time I found you pressed for time 😉
Thanks for sharing this list; I hope these funds continue to live up to the expectations we have setup for them 🙂
Rakesh says
@Jaswinder,
Radhey’s clientele has been growing……
I don’t think he is pressed for time, he writes a new post every other day and also replies to members queries daily.
Rakesh
Jaswinder Singh says
@Rakesh, Thanks Mr. spokesman 😉 (pun-intended)
Radhey Sharma says
@Rakesh, Ask my wife 🙂
I have this line I keep telling her – “I love my blog, biwi and bachchas. It’s just that I cannot decide the priority !”.
Rakesh says
Radhey,
Hmmm. Liked your quote, the 3 B’s.
